About the Event
Manchester WI have partnered with the National WI's and England Rugby to support the Women's World Cup Rugby 2025 Legecy Programme. This is a new, multi-stranded project to promote women’s rugby and encourage more women to take an active interest in the sport. The aim is to build active relationships between WI women, rugby clubs and the local community and to promote safe and inclusive social spaces at rugby clubs for WI meetings, activities, events and educational opportunities. England Rugby plans to work with the WI to increase understanding of barriers faced by women at all stages of life engaging in sport and to give WI members the chance to play walking rugby.
On the 2nd May, Manchester WI has been invited by the ladies rugby team to Broughton FC (at Hough End) for a taster non-contact Rugby Session! This is open to everyone regardless of whether you are a pro at rugby or are a novice when it comes to sport! Following the taster session there will be a social at the club pavilion with the ladies rugby team with some food!
The session is free to attend (although please register so we know to expect you). Just bring yourself and wear comfy/althletic clothes (factoring in the weather). Veggie/non-veggie food will be provided but if you have other dietary requirements please let us know when you register and/or via the WI email.
The session will start at 7. We will meet at 6:45 outside the club entrance and head in together. The full address of Broughton FC is: 2 Houghend Cres, Manchester M21 7TL, UK. It is possible to get there by public transport, but leading up to the event we can look at whether it is possible for members to lift share/travel together.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
