Formed in May 2012, Manchester Women’s Institute provides a modern take on the traditional W.I.
Our group is made up of women of all ages who come together to enjoy monthly meetings on all sorts of topics - we've had comedians, talked about women in politics and the music industry, turned our hands to burlesque, and had a chocolate tasting evenings. We've been on Manchester City Centre walking tours, visited the Printworks bee hives, and written our own poetry - there's something for everyone!
Our committee and many subgroups have put together an exciting programme for 2021, which includes bakes, books, crafts, inspiring speakers, the chance to learn new skills. All this in a friendly, open and non-judgemental environment to make new friends and get together with old friends too.
Last year marked 100 years since the first women were given the vote. To celebrate we teamed up with Runaway Brewery and launched a special Manchester W.I. x Runaway Brewery Lady Grey IPA. It was such a success that for International Women's day 2019 it was back in pubs across Manchester!
Please note that at the present time all our meetings are taking place online for members only, please see the event page for info and the Join MCR WI page for details of how to join up.
At every main meeting there's a speaker or an activity as well as a chance to catch up with other members over a virtual cup of tea, a slice of cake and maybe even a tipple!
We hope to see you at a meeting soon!
